Growth across Asia Pacific will be the fastest this year since 2007 as the region recovers strongly from the global crisis, and will remain on course for impressive growth in 2011, according to the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Developing Asia, a diverse group of 45 economies including China, India, Tajikistan, Samoa, and Indonesia, would grow 8.2 percent in 2010 and 7.3 percent in 2011, the ADB said in the update of its 2010 Asian Development Outlook.

Of all of the global retail regions, Asia-Pacific undoubtedly has the most exciting growth prospects and the Asian Retail industry is now worth an estimated US$1 trillion dollars.

The largest retailers in the world see Asia as their next battleground with Walmart and Tesco amongst the latest high-profile names to declare their intentions with ambitious expansion plans.

Analysts estimate the retail industry will spend over US$170 billion in 2011 on IT, with technology investment priorities focused on the business areas of IT/Data Architecture, Multi-Channel Retailing, and Customer Experience Management.
